Unity Day is a national event held each October. It will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 21st. Our school will be celebrating Unity Day by wearing the color ORANGE and signing a school-wide anti-bullying pledge.

WEARING ORANGE… Wearing orange is a sign that you support those who have been bullied and are uniting to make a difference. Remind your child to wear the color ORANGE tomorrow. It can be an orange t-shirt, an orange hat, or even an orange wristband.

SAY SOMETHING… This year’s theme for Bullying Prevention Month is Say Something! The theme focuses on the role of the bystander in a bullying situation. Please encourage your child to Say Something! if he/she witnesses bullying. Children should report bullying to a trusted adult.

SCHOOL-WIDE PLEDGE On Unity Day each class will sign a pledge to SAY SOMETHING! if they witness bullying. The pledges will be displayed in the classrooms. Classes have also made posters that are on display in the cafeteria.

The SAY SOMETHING! Posters are in the shape of speech bubbles and each answers a question: K – Who can you ask for help? 1st – How does bullying make others feel? 2nd – Who is a bully? 3rd – What should you do if you witness bullying? 4th – What are the ways that people bully? 5th – Why is it important to say something?
